Apologies to those who have visited recently and seen no new posts. My family and I were on holiday at the summer cottage of some good friends of ours, which is in the lovely area of Tuse Naes near Holbaek in Denmark. Without Internet Connection. You really do not realize how much you use the Internet until you are cut off from it! But some so-called “down time” is not a bad thing and it was quite lovely not to be part of The Web for a few days.
So what did we do? We went for walks by the fjord and collected seashells and interesting-looking stones. We went into Holbaek itself and stocked up on Good Quality Outdoor Winter Clothing for the kids in the pre-season sales. We ate Danish hotdogs. We vistited Copenhagen and went to see The Little Mermaid (question: why do grown men feel the need to stand right in front of the statue and have their photo taken, blocking the view for a Mother WIth Children who is trying to take a decent photo of said children – and believe me, getting 3 kids to stand still, look at the camera AND smile is no mean feat!?). We met up with our friends and had a drink (or two!) at Det Argentinske Vinhus – Vinos Los Andes before having a delicious dinner at a local sailing club (which I will find out the name of and post this as a comment as it had a fantastic children’s play area and menu). We went for walks. We fired up the sauna in the little house at the bottom of the garden of the summer house and relaxed to the scent of hot wood and lavender oil. We had a BBQ and picked buckets full of red currents and Mirabelle plums.
We had a truly fantastic time.
I hope that you have had a similarly wonderful summer holiday.
