This has got to be one of the all-time classic salads. It is simple to prepare and relatively cheap to make, and makes a colourful dish to add to your summertime dinner.
- Fresh, ripe tomatoes (if you can, choose a variety that is slightly firmer, but any type will do)
- Mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
1. Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, not too thinly, and arrange on a plate. How you arrange it is up to you, but I prefer to do so as in the picture above.
2. Add the fresh basil leaves (chopped if large).
3. If you want, drizzle the salad with crema di balsamico (a thicker, creamy version of balsamic vinegar), but this is not necessary. You could also sprinkle the tomatoes with a bit of salt and freshly ground black pepper, but again, this is up to you.
